Firstly, it has been speculated that Taylor Swift's performance of the song "Innocent" was targeted at Kanye West.
Her performance began with a video montage of the debacle and then she went on to sing about last year's incident, when he hijacked her VMA acceptance speech to announce that fellow nominee Beyonce should have won.
The song's lyrics included the line: "Who you are is not what you did." She also said: "32 is still growing up now ... you're still an innocent."
"Everyone of us has messed up, too," she sang. "I hope you remember today is never too late to be brand new."

Well no doubt many has said that Taylor's milking that incident way too much. But I feel that it is Taylor's style to write about things happening to her that affects her be it heartbreaks or just family issues. Her first single from her album "Speak Now" is called "Mine", the music video and lyrics both shows how much she's in love and how she's found someone to call hers. And many fans are even more excited after the preview of the album they got from Taylor Swift's performance at the VMAs 2010.
I felt that her performance was one that stood out from the crowd that mainly performed the year's hits, from Usher belting out "OMG" and "DJ got us falling in love" to Justin Bieber's "Baby". She was a slower, calmer performance where she enchanted the audience with her voice. The lyrics are the kind that makes people think and it also made a lot of sense to many of us. Many of us could relate to many parts of it. The melody was fresh. She also stood out with her classic look of red lipstick & curled hair.
The second controversy is that Justin Bieber lip syncing.

Justin has long since began the puperty cycle and with it, his voice has started to crack. Long story short, he just doesn't sound like he did when he first rose to stardom. His voice is much lower now and after watching some of his recent live performances, it's obvious Bieber was struggling to hit some of the high notes.

Yesyes, no doubt. As everyone said that he's gonna go through puberty damn soon and thus his voice will break. I watched the performance a few times. What made me wonder if he lip synced is the fact that throughout that exhausting dance routine, there wasn't a hint of breathlessness in his singing. Fans would have felt cheated at the live performance. There was almost no way he could have managed such a exhausting dance performance with singing without any breathlessness. He hasn't lost me as a fan of his but I'm still starting to worry for his career? Yeap. It is a big thing to choose to lip sync at one of the hugest event of the year.
We'll just have to see.
Til then.
